V-Max Buddies

Well I'm standing on a corner in Winslow Buckinghamshire doesn't really cut it somehow. Pity, otherwise I could have done this write up in Dan stylie  as Winslow was one of the many villages we woke up as we passed on our way to Buddies Diner in Towcester.

Well today was a day of firsts. The first first was Arl and I arriving first at the Shire Horse Centre!  It had to happen sooner or later and later it was !  After a few minutes a couple of other bikes pulled in to the car park but false alarm........ I think they were an Advanced Riding Instructor and trainee. A few more minutes and Scots John arrived soon to be followed by Nick and Keith.  Our (Arl & I) first ride out of the year was underway and I led the way  over to Chinnor. Leaving the M40 we were held up for a few moments trying to get out at the T Junction until two kindly fellow bikers slowed and held the traffic back to let us all out. I did not know until later that these kind souls were in fact Badger on his Warrior and Julie on her V-Max.  For the first time ever we had a V-Max leading and V-Max tail ending!

Waiting at The Wheatsheaf were more Vultures who boosted our numbers to twelve bikes and one passenger. Baz, Ed, Sue, Roy and Chris who was using his new camera for the first time. After a very pleasant Cappuchino and watching numerous Red Tailed Kites soaring above us, it was off to Towcester and a flying visit to the Harley dealership. We raised a few eyebrows filling their forecourt with a Kawasaki, 2 Harleys,  a Triumph and 8 Yammies. Stomachs rumbling it was  soon time to ride around the corner to Buddies American Diner.

What had started off as a fresh morning was brightening up to a really sunny and pleasant afternoon and we had an excellent ride back through twisty country lanes to Chinnor where we took a comfort break before heading off home. For a good deal of the way I was following Julie on her first ride out on her Max and by the way she was navigating those beautiful bends I could just imagine the smile that was going on inside that crash helmet. A very stiff neutral made it difficult for her in the car parks but other than that, great ride Jools, and great roads Baz, thanks!

As we approached Nettlebed bikes started to peel off to go their separate ways on the final leg home at the end of a brilliant day out.  Bring on the next one!
