Going Underground

Some people say Phil's life is in a rut,
But he's quite happy with what he's got
People might say that he should strive for more,
But Andrea's so happy she cant see the point.
Something happened in Wycombe today
A show of strength with the Vultures and the caves,
We're so happy and Andrea's so blind
Phil wants more money - of course Andrea don't mind
To paint his face for Hell Fire crimes

And the public gets what the public wants
But Phil wants nothing this society's got -
Vultures going underground, (going underground)
Well we wait for Phil to creep and our hearts start to pound
Going underground, (going underground)
Well let the kids all scream and the kids all shout for tomorrow

Well Phil might get some pleasure out of hate
Dan's mums enough already on her plate
Andrea might get some tension to relax
She's too busy dodging between the flak

With this man Phil what you see is what you get
He's made his bed, he'd better lie in it
We choose our Rep and place our trust
As hell fire rain does wash you down, Phil's promises rust
You'll see Vultures machines replaced by rockets and guns

And the public wants what the public gets
But Phil don't get what this society wants
We're going underground, (going underground)
Well on the weather we pray and Phil's, in a way, quite sound
Going underground, (going underground)
[so] let the Vultures all sing and Dan's mum shout for tomorrow

We talk and talk, to Phil, until our heads explode
We turn on the news and our bodies freeze
The face of Phil in the Hell Fire Cave
Make this boy shout, make him scream!

We went underground, Phil stay underground!                   Dan    (with thanks to Paul Weller)
