EASTENDER IN THE PARK Super sunny Sunday morning for a ride out Sue and I get over to the Shire Horse centre to find other vultures ready for the off. My turn to lead OOOOHHHH . It was an easy run on the M4 and M25 with a short stop at one of the Vultures 2nd homes, South Mimms, then on to the park. Park up, sort ourselves out, check “ meet back at bike time” and then off we all went in different directions. There was a lot for us to see, sideshows, trade stands, exhibits. A small but very informative museum of speedway history was the first port of call, then on to see the VSOC tent tea and coffee all round please!!. A good range of Star bikes on show with Kevin Hoyte’s new Raider looking especially good. We all thought it was good to see Eddie Kidd with a stall chatting to people and signing copies of DVDs and pictures. He was looking well and was enjoying the day. We met up with ex Vultures Pete and Jan to catch up on some goss. In the main arena was a stunt team doing some really mad stunts on bikes, some even with girls draped over them. About mid afternoon Ex-EastEnder Gillian Tailforth (Cathy Beal) was presenting some prizes then did a walk about stopping at the VSOC tent. Good old Rog always 1st in with the ladies collars her. We got her to sit on Kevin’s Raider. She had a good chat with some of the members and allowed some pictures to be taken. We were told about some baby white lion cubs 2 days old so off we went to see some cute fluffy things!!!!!!!! Like you do. We could only just see two little white bundles sleeping some distance away, so we carried on into the big cat area of the Zoo. Being rather a warm day all the cats were fast a kip so didn’t look very frightening, more like giant moggies. One last cuppa then back to the bikes to get kitted up for home. Excellent day out with great friends and an excellent show (which we are told could well be an annual event) Ed |
