Stu & Stel’s 1st ride out with TVV

This was our first ride out so we didn’t quite know what to expect. A mail from Colin told us to be at the Elly for 10:00, so that’s what we did. 1st there were two….then there were four…..and finally there were six who were mad enough to turn up, praying that the weathermen had got it right for a change! After the rain in the last couple of days we weren’t sure anyone would actually be there when we arrived for the run out to the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum.

When we arrived, Colin & Chris were waiting and later Gary Glitter J & Baz arrived. After a bit of a chat & some protocol info we headed off south, on roads still wet from the overnight rain. We had some drizzle, but in the main it was a dryish day. The road from the Elly to the A30 and the road we took from the A30 were great, sweepy bends, some nice straights, perfect biking roads. Colin had promised us “no country roads”….only A’s & B’s…..ONLY A’s & B’s????? We turned off the A3 into what appeared to be a road only used by farmers and cattle!! The road was full of grit, mud, GRASS!!! ONLY A’s & B’s???? My arse! J We arrived at the Museum @ around noon paid the £8.50 entrance & headed straight for the Café, which served homemade lunch’s, cakes & very nice Pizza! We then toured the museum with its many 17th & 18th century buildings that have all been dismantled and re built – pretty amazing stuff. Then we gathered around the bikes, had more chat about….bikes (what else would we be talking about!) and headed off to return via a B road! This really is a B road with some lovely sweepy bends. J After several miles Stu & I headed off towards the A3 and the group carried on towards Petersfield…so what happened after that, we have no idea…..hopefully ONLY A’s & B’s!!! A big thanks to everyone, you all made us feel very welcome; we look forward to the next ride out. Cheers,
