Bluebell Run Out April 25th 2004

A deep rumble outside in my quiet street reported the arrival of C14’s Paul (or Bastard as I call him) just in time for a quick cup of tea. With Saz riding my "new" black ‘n flamed Dragstar and me on my Honda we set off to the Elephant for a Bacon Sandwich & a coffee.

I have found a way of not taking any more flak for riding a VFR on ride outs by cunningly disguising it as a Honda Dragstar…(see picture below)…it worked well…

A lovely day and a lovely turn out of 20 bikes, including Rynier van de Merwe, who John & I thought didn’t really exist and Ian on a Road Star Warrior, his first run out and the first time for us to have a Warrior riding with us.

I was looking forward to just chilling out in the pack somewhere, but was designated to rear mark, no problem, you get the chance of a blat at the back.

So Bacon Sandwiches eaten we head off with John leading.

Off through the woods in search of Bluebells we go with 2nd manning working a treat and the sun out, lovely.

Then the Mighty Warrior in front of me splutters to a halt, I stop along with Pop, so how do you fix it then? We all scratch our heads and peer into the full fuel tank, Mmm, RAC job we say in unison. I take Ian’s number make sure he is safe in a pub car park & Pop & I shoot off. Luckily Nick, Richard & Jacqui had stayed at their posts and we just missed one left turn which put us in Henley. The other 14 bikes had found the Bluebell wood and were merrily cavorting amongst the flora…

Back in Henley meanwhile I was designated to find my way to Milton Common so with a U turn in Henley we were off on some lovely dry twisty country roads. I just had to open it up a few times, but we still all arrived together at the Three Pigeons with John and others arriving 5 minutes later…

A pint of Cider in the sun was called for and Paul (used to Centre 14’s rule of looking after their Centre Rep, a rule I strongly feel we should adopt!) bought me a pint.

Just as I bought a round John and a handful of others took off back to Henley for lunch, D’oh! So I tried to quickly sign up three new members, finished my drink and then navigated 3 bikes back to Henley to find the others...Nice weather, good company and good fun. Dave
